SLAYRAD™ Cluster Mailbox Insert — specification sheet
A stainless steel lockbox that fits inside your cluster mailbox compartment. Mail drops in through a slot. Only your key opens it.

| Body | 11-gauge (0.12 in) 304 stainless steel |
|---|---|
| Fits | Standard 4C wall-unit compartments and pedestal cluster boxes about 12 in wide, 3 in tall and 15 in deep. The fit is deliberately tight. |
| Mail slot | 3/4 × 9 in |
| Lock | Gilbarco 500S cylinder — the same lock used on the door of a Gilbarco Encore fuel dispenser. Backed by 4 decades of lock security innovation. Procured and assembled in Corona, California. Locks and keys come only from us, by your lock number. |
| Keys | Two keys included. Lose a key? Order a Lock Replacement Kit from our Parts page: a new lock and new keys, so the lost key no longer fits. |
| Hold | 3M™ VHB™ Tape Max-110GF structural tape — 395 psi overlap shear on stainless steel, 275 psi tensile (3M technical data sheet, Nov 2025). |
| Install | Slides in and bonds to both side walls with 3M structural tape. Hinge nuts snug with a 3/8 in or crescent wrench. No drilling. About 15 minutes — estimated by the people who build them. We have not timed a first-time installer yet. Install at 70°F or warmer, per 3M's recommendation; full strength after 72 hours. |
| Weight | 5 lb |
| Finish | Brushed stainless |
| Made in | Built in Murrieta, California. Lock cylinders procured and assembled in Corona, California. |
HONEST LIMITS
What it deters — and what it doesn't
Stops
- A drilled, pried or snapped compartment lock
- A stolen or copied master key that opens the whole cluster unit
- Fishing letters out of an open compartment
- A pried or bypassed carrier door
Does not stop
- Packages — the insert holds letters, 9 × 12 envelopes, magazines and catalogs only; packages in a parcel locker or on your doorstep are unprotected
- Very thick flats or bundles that will not pass a 3/4 × 9 in slot; your carrier may leave those loose in the compartment
- Theft of mail before it reaches your box, including outgoing mail dropped in a blue collection box
- A cluster unit that is pried open, cut, or carried off whole
- A carrier being robbed of an arrow key
- Mail fishing from other residents' compartments
